This 6-week long challenge will take place from July 19th to August 29th 2021. As the name implies, Step Bootcamp will provide a personalized step plan to “train” participants of all abilities to reach their full potential in daily steps. We have made a lot changes this year to help participants improve their steps, learn techniques for adding steps into your routines, and provide fun activities to engage in walking with team members and other participating teams. That is right, this year the Step Bootcamp will be a team effort. Participation in this competition is optional and you should consider any health issues that you have before registering. The Border Coalition for Fitness and affiliated sponsors are not responsible for any injuries or other health issues that occur during the duration of this competition.

COVID-19 Safety: It is advised to follow CDC and local guidelines, such as wearing a face mask and social distancing, to keep you, your family, and our community safe while particpating in this challenge.

Step Goals and Team Point Accumulation.

  • You will be awarded points for achieving your daily “step goals”. An overview of goals and points can be seen in the below table.
  • Weekly average step goals are increased by increments of 500 regardless of your baseline average steps.
  • Teams will receive total points each week based on each individual team member success in reaching their daily step goals.
  • During the competition on each MONDAY, each team member will receive a link via email to report on their daily goal achievement and bonus point activity.
  • We will report team point totals every THURSDAY.
  • Participants must have access to a tracking device such as a Fitbit, smartphone app, or similar to track their steps.

Trail Trips - Bonus Points.

Each week, we will announce a list of 'Trail Trip' options that you and your team can do to gain extra points. To be awarded points, you must submit photo evidence of your team members physically being present. Each individual that attends will receive points that will be included in the team's overall total. Each week's trails difficulty will increase over the course of the 6 weeks of the challenge.

Team Effort Bonus Points

Teams may also gain 'Team Effort' bonus points by engaging in weekly team activities. A schedule of activities is included at the end of this document. Corresponding bonus points are listed in the table below. Similar to the ‘Trail Trips’, to be awarded points, you must submit photo evidence of your team members physically being present. Each individual that attends will receive points that will be included in the team's overall total. Each week's ‘Team Effort’ difficulty will increase over the course of the 6 weeks of the challenge.
